THE LOW DOWN ON PERIOD BRIEFS!

Period briefs are designed to absorb your menstrual flow and can be washed and reused. Better for you and Mama Earth! They can be worn on their own or as a backup with another sanitary item. This depends on your flow! Remember to keep a watchful eye over your briefs and change them before their capacity is reached. With Love Luna period briefs, you can ditch the bulky pads and leave the wings on the runway!

HOW DO THEY WORK?

Period briefs feature a super comfy inbuilt pad with four layers of protection. See How it works

FIRST TIME USING THEM?

1. We recommend you try them on a lighter day of your period or when you are at home. This is your ‘experiment’ day when you can learn how your briefs work for you. 2. Remember Luna Lover our Luna period briefs hold different capacities, use that gauge if when you will need to change them if it is less than a day.  Only you know your flow! 3. If you want to change them less often, then wear them with another sanitary item like a menstrual cup or tampon.4. Now that you’re confident, you can wear your briefs anywhere you like...just not in water!

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR BRIEFS.

Rinse your briefs with cold water as soon as you can after removal until the water starts to run clear.  Pop them in a washbag this will help them last longer, with the rest of your washing and wash with like colours on a cold water cycle (max 30 degrees). Then rely on Mama Earth to line dry them.  Did you know sunlight has natural anti-microbial properties that are good for your undies? Pretty please do NOT: Soak (this will ruin their technology) Add softener or bleach when washing them, Tumble dry, Iron, Dry clean.

HOW MUCH DO THEY HOLD?

Style: Bikini Holds up to: 2-3 tampons/teaspoons. Capacity: 0-15ml.

Style: Midi Holds up to: 2-3 tampons/teaspoons. Capacity: 10-15m.

Style: Full Holds up to: 3-4 tampons/teaspoons. Capacity: 15-20ml.

HOW MANY BRIEFS FOR A CYCLE?

This really depends on you and your flow.  If you use them exclusively, we would suggest 7-10 pairs of Luna’s in a single cycle. If you use them with other sanitary products as back-up around 3-5 pairs.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I CAN USE THEM ON THEIR OWN?

Assessing the capacity of the briefs and comparing this with how many sanitary items you use in a day is really important. It’s also important to keep in mind that if your flow changes from day to day, then the way you use your briefs will change, too.If you think that your flow is nearing the capacity of your briefs (which depends on the style of the brief), then it’s time to change them. We have thousands of Luna lovers successfully wearing our products solo however we also appreciate this may not work for everyone. Therefore, other Luna lovers prefer to wear their Lunas with additional backup, e.g. a menstrual cup or reusable pad, on days 1, 2 and 3 and then go solo for the rest. Some Luna lovers might wear an additional sanitary item for every day of their cycle. It depends on your flow!

WHY AM I LEAKING?

It could be due to one or more of the following. Ask yourself these questions:

1.) Have all proper care instructions been followed? If they're not, then this can damage the technology of the briefs.

2.) Does your flow exceed the indicated capacity of the briefs? Full briefs hold 3-4 regular tampons worth of flow which is 15-20 ml. If your flow exceeds this, you might need to use them as a backup, rather than as your primary source of protection.

3.) Is your version of a ‘light’ period more than the capacity of the briefs?Everyone's version of light, medium and heavy is different. For some people, ‘light’ it is about 1-2 regular tampons of flow, for others it is 3-4 regular tampons throughout the day.

The maximum capacity of our most absorbent period brief is 3-4 regular tampons. You may consider your period to be light, but it may still exceed this capacity.

HOW LONG DO PERIOD BRIEFS LAST?

If you follow all care instructions, during and after you use them, they will last between 9-12 months.  Just remember, rinse after use, and wash in cold water only and line dry.  Avoid bleaches, fabric softener and the dryer.
